Nanoparticles for antibiotics have been developed in Stavropol

The use of innovative dosage forms of antibacterial drugs will help to combat strains that have gained resistance to the effects of antimicrobial substances.

Joint work on the creation of nanoparticles for antibiotics is carried out at the Stavropol State Agrarian University and the Stavropol Research Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor.

To develop highly effective medicines that can suppress resistant bacteria, scientists have applied innovative nanotechnology. In particular, nanocarriers were used to transport the active substance to the cell — special structures ranging in size from 1 to 100 nanometers with unique physico-chemical qualities. These

The particles can be designed to act directly on specific types of bacteria. Due to its structure, the nanocarrier will protect the antibiotic from decomposition and penetrate through cell walls and other biological barriers, delivering antimicrobials precisely to the source of infection.

The use of such innovative forms of antibiotics helps to reduce the economic burden on livestock farms in the region by reducing the risks of keeping animals and contributes to the rapid treatment process.

 — All the key areas of research of our scientists are aimed at the development of the real sector of the Stavropol Territory economy — today every scientific development must meet modern trends in the agro—industrial complex and solve a specific problem in the industry, — commented Vladimir Sitnikov, Rector of the StGAU.
