The Department of Land Management and Cadastre holds classes in the discipline «Cartography» in cooperation with the State University of Land Management of the city of Moscow.

Within the framework of the discipline, second-year students study under the guidance of Pavel Lepekhin, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Management of GUZ. In the course of practice-oriented laboratory work, they got acquainted with modern ArcGIS and MapInfo software, learned how to digitize and create electronic versions of a cartographic image, including drawing quantitative and qualitative characteristics of various objects. In addition, students have mastered the skills of drawing up a map legend and studied the principles of decoding satellite images, these skills will help in further professional activities in the field of land management and cadastre.
