StGAU scientists have begun to study the effect of phosphogypsum on the soil
2024/05/08

Together with representatives of partner companies Uralchem Innovation and Agroinvest, employees of the Stavropol State Agrarian University took soil samples from the fields of Agroinvest Agricultural Enterprise LLC for further research.

Phosphogypsum is a byproduct of the production of fertilizers from phosphorous rock, which mostly consists of gypsum. In agriculture, it is used as a universal meliorant to restore soil fertility.

Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professors of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Yesaulko and Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Yevgeny Golosnoy, together with production partners, conducted soil sampling in the village of Vinodnensky in the Ipatov district. Various forms of phosphogypsum were added to the samples to determine the most effective of them. Scientists will track the dynamics of the soil desalination process by evaluating the quantitative determination of the composition of cations.
