A field meeting of the Academic Council of the Stavropol State Agrarian University was held at the Levokumskoye joint‑stock company, which is part of the ASB agro‑holding. The event was attended by the university’s management, leading scientists, researchers, postgraduate students, and members of the university’s Academic Council.
The field trip programme began with a detailed immersion in the company’s production processes. University representatives inspected the vineyards and the workshops of the winery, familiarising themselves with all stages of product creation — from the agrotechnical features of vine cultivation to the bottling of the finished beverage. During the visit, a presentation was held for three new types of wines that are planned to be launched on the market this year. The novelties were demonstrated to the university delegation by Ksenia Kravchenko, a winemaker and technologist at JSC «Levokumskoe» and a graduate of Stavropol State Agrarian University.
A key part of the meeting was the discussion of integrating the university’s scientific potential and laboratory infrastructure into the industry’s production processes, as well as fulfilling the tasks set by the Association of Grape Growers and Winemakers of Russia. The focus of the meeting participants was on the research capabilities of the Institute of Agrobiology and Natural Resources and the Institute of Agrarian Genetics and Breeding at Stavropol State Agrarian University.
The meeting participants identified priority areas for scientific and industrial partnership. These included monitoring and management of soil fertility, systematic phytosanitary inspection of plantings, and genetic certification of vineyards. In addition, the participants discussed the creation of a permanent industry platform for dialogue between business and science on the basis of Stavropol State Agrarian University, as well as the improvement of targeted training programs for specialists to meet the needs of the region’s wineries.
«Off‑site meetings of the Academic Council at real production sites allow us to precisely synchronize the research and educational agenda with the current needs of the business community. Viticulture and winemaking are historically significant and promising industries for Stavropol and the entire south of the country, requiring the implementation of advanced scientific solutions. The university is ready to provide manufacturers with comprehensive technological support: from genetic certification of vineyards and soil analysis to the implementation of modern plant protection systems. It is especially gratifying to see our graduates becoming leading technologists at enterprises and creating high‑quality domestic products.» «We will continue to develop applied science and train personnel capable of ensuring the competitiveness of Russian winemaking, ” said Vladimir Sitnikov, rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University.
Stavropol State Agrarian University will continue to strengthen cooperation with the real sector of the economy and industry associations. The development of joint projects with leading producers enables the university to promptly implement scientific developments in practice, promote import substitution, and make a significant contribution to the promotion of domestic wine products on the Russian market.
