The Stavropol State Agrarian University hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference «The Historical Significance and Role of the Soviet Union in the Victory over Nazi Germany and its Allies during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. A new look and understanding», dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It was organized by the Stavropol State Agrarian University and the Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society in the Stavropol Territory.
The conference brought together scientists, researchers, public figures and representatives of the youth scientific community from Russia and abroad. Among the participants are historians, jurists, teachers and cultural scientists from Stavropol, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Donetsk, Makhachkala, Taganrog, as well as from the Czech Republic, the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia. The chairman of the organizing committee is Vladimir Nikolaevich Sitnikov, Rector of SSAU, and Sergey Arnoldovich Shevelev, Deputy of the Duma of the Stavropol Territory, holder of three Orders of Courage, Chairman of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The first day of the conference is dedicated to a plenary session, during which leading scientists presented fundamental reports on key issues of the history of the Great Patriotic War and the preservation of historical memory. The participants considered a wide range of topics: from the role of agriculture in the North Caucasus in securing the front and the publication of previously unknown archival documents from the war to the analysis of modern narratives about the Second World War in school history courses of Ukraine and the problem of the formation of Ukrainian nationThe first day of the conference is dedicated to a plenary session, during which leading scientists presented fundamental reports on key issues of the history of the Great Patriotic War and the preservation of histomemory. Special attention is paid to the restoration of the industrial and energy potential of Donbass during the war, the legal assessment of collaboration in the occupied territories, as well as the investigation of the crimes of the Nazi invaders in Stavropol. Separate reports are devoted to an artistic understanding of the events of a Special military operation, a historical and biographical analysis of the military path of female heroines and the formation of a culture of historical memory in the modern educational space.
The second day of the conference includes a series of thematic round tables. Thus, the round table «The harsh trials and heroism of the Soviet people in the fight against the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War» brought together researchers who will present reports on the partisan movement in Kuban and Stavropol, the activities of the youth anti-fascist underground in the North Caucasus, the unity of the front and rear based on Dagestan, the fighting of the Red Army Air Force in the North Tavria, the fight against criminal crime during the Battle for the Caucasus, the role of NKVD troopsThus, the round table «The harsh trials and heroism of the Soviet people in the fight against the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War» brought together researchers who will present reports on the partisan movement in Kuban and Stavropol, the activities of the youth anti-fascist underground in the North Caucasus, the unity of the front and rear based on Dagestan, the fighting of the Red Army Air Force in the North Tavrthe fight against criminal crime during the Battle for the Caucasus, the role of NKVD troops in the Caucasian battles, the psychology of civilian survival during the war, and also about and also about the demographic behavior of the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad. An important place in the program of the section is occupied by issues of countering the falsification of history — the fight against Soviet monuments within the framework of the policy of decommunization in Europe, the analysis of Western historiography of Nazi crimes in the USSR, new tasks of historical education of youth. The round table «The Feat of the People (1941-1945) in the memory of generations» allowed students to present their own research and engage in a scientific discussion about the significance of the Great Victory.
Holding such international scientific forums is of exceptional importance at a time when attempts to revise the results of the Second World War and distort the historical truth about the decisive role of the Soviet Union in defeating Nazism are becoming more widespread.
