The traditional Stavropol Open Cup in powerlifting was held as part of the sports contest among students of Stavropol State Agrarian University.
68 athletes from Stavropol sports clubs, as well as Izobilny, Neftekumsk and Alexandrovsk took part. The winners of the weight categories among SSAU students were:
Institute of Agrobiology and Natural Resources:
Valeria Babenko in the category up to 52 kg;
Anna Pasnova in the 57 kg category;
Varvara Yaroshenko in the +87 kg category;
Dmitry Tumanov in the category up to 93 kg;
Sergey Spivak in the 83 kg category, and was also awarded the cup of the absolute champion of the university.
Institute of Additional Professional Education:
Eduard Ambartsumyan in the category up to 74kg.
Institute of Economics, Finance and Management in the Agro-Industrial Complex:
Lika Telegina in the 63 kg category.
Institute of Secondary Vocational Education:
Polina Akinshina in the 69 kg category;
Kira Prilepskikh in the 72 kg category, and also became the absolute champion of the university in powerlifting and was awarded the Cup.
In the team competition, the places were distributed as follows:
1st place — Institute of Agrobiology and Natural Resources;
2nd place — Institute of Economics, Finance and Management in Agriculture;
3rd place — Institute of Additional Professional Education;
4th place — Institute of Secondary Vocational Education;
5th place — Institute of Mechanics and Power Engineering.
Inna Svistunova, an associate professor at the Institute of Economics, Finance and Management in the Agroindustrial Complex, performed outside the team competition and became the winner in the senior age category up to 52 kg.
According to the results of the Stavropol Cup, the winners in the team competition were:
1st place — Fitness Time Sports Club;
2nd place — SSAU;
3rd place — sports club «Peresvet».
Evgeny Matyukhin became the absolute champion of the Stavropol Cup. He competed in the +120 kg category with a total weight of 765 kg: squats — 300 kg, bench press — 195 kg, deadlift — 250 kg.
