Students of the «Landscape Architecture» direction examined traditional methods of measuring trees and the possibility of using instrumental methods to determine their condition.

Under the guidance of assistant Valeria Chebotaeva and associate Professor Vasily Khrapach, the students conducted a number of studies on the biological, sanitary, hygienic and landscape-architectural properties of recreational forests in the city of Stavropol. Using a measuring fork, a tape measure and a folding meter, the students measured the diameter of growing and felled trees. All estimated indicators taken into account during direct measurement (height, length, diameter, linear dimensions of the increase) and obtained by appropriate calculations (cross-sectional area, volume, stock, cross-sectional area, volume, stock) were issued in the reports of the field lesson.
