The Institute of Agrobiology and Natural Resources continues practice-oriented training of students in various fields, focused on improving professional skills and gaining practical experience.
Students of the direction «Agronomy» are 3rd year students of the direction 35.03.04 «Agronomy» in the laboratory of agricultural biotechnology of the Scientific and Production Center of nursery of fruit and berry crops of StGAU. Under the guidance of mentors, they master the technologies of clonal micro-propagation of crops, learn how to prepare nutrient media, introduce explants into culture in vitro, propagate micro-shoots and adapt the resulting plants to non-sterile conditions.
Practical classes are also regularly held on the basis of the greenhouse complex. The complex is a fourth-generation greenhouse of the Venlo type, in which cucumbers are grown using modern technologies similar to those for large greenhouse enterprises. After gaining knowledge in the lecture classes, students master the necessary maximum of professional skills in greenhouse production: design features of greenhouses, regulation of the microclimate in them, general aspects of growing vegetable crops in protected soil conditions. Masters in the network program «Integrated protection and nutrition system of vegetable crops in protected ground» master the specialized disciplines «Agrotechnics of cucumbers in protected ground», «Operation of structures in protected ground» on the basis of the greenhouse. As part of scientific activities in the greenhouse and greenhouse, research is conducted annually on testing cucumber hybrids and the use of growth-regulating substances.
For students of the master's degree in Environmental Monitoring, classes are organized in the Central Laboratory in the Stavropol Territory. The educational process includes field studies aimed at sampling soil, water and atmospheric air. Practical work in an accredited laboratory provides students with a unique opportunity to gain relevant skills in monitoring the state of the environment, developing inventories of sources of pollutants into the atmosphere, as well as designing waste generation standards.
