The Model United Nations is a role—playing game in which students and high school students reproduce the work of the United Nations. Its participants — delegates, observers, chairmen and experts — act as official representatives of the UN member states and international organizations who came to the conference to discuss the agenda. In the Model, delegates do not express a personal point of view, but the official position of the country they represent. The purpose of each committee is to adopt a resolution on the issue on the agenda.
The event was accompanied by lectures and master classes from prominent scientists, political and public figures. Among the speakers were Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Chairman of the Russian Association for the Promotion of the United Nations, Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow, and Sergey Cheryomin, Minister of the Moscow Government.
Stavropol State Agrarian University was represented at the Moscow International Model UN by Ivan Dmitriev, a student at the Institute of Secondary Vocational Education. Ivan became a member of the General Assembly Committee, the main advisory, policy—making and representative body of the United Nations. As part of the team, he represented Singapore's interests in solving the UN Security Council reform case. Ivan Dmitriev made a great contribution to the writing of the resolution on the stated topic.
