StGAU, together with the Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor, implements a unique master's degree program «Modern breeding and genetic research methods in animal husbandry».

The main purpose of the educational program is to acquire competencies about current changes in the conduct of breeding work on the genetic improvement of breeding animals at the present stage. The training includes seven modules: «Population aspects of breeding in animal husbandry», «Modern methods of genetic technologies», «Molecular genetic examination of breeding animals: Formation of stable homeostasis of animals», «Adaptation and reproduction of farm animals», «Main genes of productive action of dairy and beef cattle», «Creation of genetically safe herds of dairy cattle and the meat direction of productivity», «Multiple genetic coding of productive traits of farm animals».

Practical training will be carried out on the basis of the Institute of Agrarian Genetics and Breeding, the laboratory of milk quality control and the laboratory of molecular genetic examination of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, as well as in breeding agricultural organizations. At the end of the program, undergraduates will defend theses that ensure the introduction of basic methods of genomic selection, the introduction of new technologies in the field of breeding dairy cattle breeding, confirmation of the authenticity of the origin of breeding animals, the compilation of genomic passports of animals and testing of productive genes.

The program provides 16 commercial places, full-time and part-time forms of study. Graduates will receive diplomas that will allow them to carry out professional activities in the following specialties: biotechnologist, cynologist, zootechnician, animal breeder, process engineer, operator of livestock complexes, farmer, boning, poultry breeder, geneticist, ornithologist, zoo engineer, breeder.
