SSAU scientists spoke at a meeting of the Supervisory Board for Broiler Poultry Farming
2025/07/17

A meeting of the Supervisory Board of Industrial Adaptation of the Smena 9 cross was held under the chairmanship of Olga Abramova, Adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Broiler poultry farming is the basis of poultry meat production and is based on the use of chicken meat crosses with high genetic productivity potential achieved through targeted breeding. This potential includes the ability to grow rapidly, use feed efficiently, and form a carcass with a high yield of muscle tissue.

Smena 9 is a Russian cross—breed of meat chickens bred at the breeding center of the Federal Scientific Center of the All-Russian Scientific Research and Technological Institute of Poultry Breeding at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Industrial adaptation involves the identification of factors that positively and negatively affect the achievement of a bird's proven genetic potential in an industrial environment.

The Supervisory Board was formed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Directorate of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Agriculture with the assistance of Agropromcifra JSC and Innopraktika Company, with the guidance of curators — scientists from VNITIP Scientific Research Center, Smena Research Center, and leading specialists from leading agricultural holdings.

During the meeting, seven working groups presented reports on methods and plans for experimental work. Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Elena Epimakhova is included in the working group «Contents» from Stavropol State Agrarian University. The meeting was also attended by the First Vice-rector, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Ivan Atanov and Director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Valentin Skripkin.
