An international scientific and practical conference «Modern technologies in genetics, breeding and reproduction of farm animals» was held in St. Petersburg, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Animal Breeding.

The event brought together more than 150 participants from 44 organizations. The topics of lectures and reports included developments in the field of efficient use of genetic resources, intensification of reproduction, physiology, biochemistry and animal feeding, as well as practical experience of gene pool and breeding centers in Russia.

The conference consisted of various sections designed for breeding specialists, animal technicians, veterinarians, geneticists and biotechnologists from specialized organizations of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, research institutes of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, higher education institutions, students, postgraduates and teachers.

Stavropol State Agrarian University was presented at the conference by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Elena Epimakhova with a report «The SSAU Vivarium is a platform for multifactorial experiments with poultry.» In her speech, the professor noted the main achievements of the scientific and educational vivarium. So, this year, a set of scientific studies was conducted to achieve the planned values of the Agroinopolis 2030 University Development Program on the topic «Scientific justification and development of effective technological methods for the regionally oriented reproduction of genetic resources of poultry farming.» As part of the research, scientists evaluated the effect of the Sorbex litter desiccant on the productivity of slow-growing broiler chickens, compared the productivity of broiler chickens with different nutritional values of compound feeds, and analyzed the realization of the genetic potential of hybrid chickens of the Dominant TS crosses during simultaneous cultivation.
