According to the good and patriotic tradition that has developed on the day of the Great Victory, employees, teachers, graduate students and students of Stavropol State Agrarian University, led by the rector Vladimir Trukhachev, marched in the fifty thousandth column of the Stavropol “Immortal Regiment” from the main square of the regional centre to the memorial “Fire of Eternal Glory” at the Fortress Mountain.
Agrarian University is a regular participant in the parades in honour of the winners of the most terrible war in the history of mankind. In memory of the unprecedented feat of the multinational people of our country, which stood in the years of severe trials, hundreds of representatives of the main agrarian higher educational institution walked with portraits of their relatives and friends who participated in the Great Patriotic War, as well as former alma mater employees who contributed to the common cause of the Sacred Victory.
The memory of the Great Patriotic War is constantly kept in the walls of Stavropol State Agrarian University. During the war in its main building housed a military hospital. More than 150 teachers and students have not returned from the battlefields. In memory of them a granite stele with the names of the dead was erected on the territory of the university.
Despite the rainy weather, the city square of Lenin was literally packed with residents of the city and the region. Everyone considered it his duty to take part in a memorable procession.
The column of Agrarian University was one of the most numerous. She was personally welcomed by Governor of Stavropol Vladimir Vladimirov.
- This festive procession once again confirmed that the present generations of future agrarians honour the traditions of their homeland and express their deepest gratitude to all who gave us today this peaceful sky and the joy of life, - said the rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Duma of Stavropol Territory, Professor Vladimir Trukhachev.
